Անտիբիոտիկ կանխարգելումը սովորաբար չի առաջարկվում սովորական ճանապարհորդների համար։ Դա առաջացնում է դիմադրություն, ունի կողմնակի ազդեցություններ և promotes colonisation with resistant organisms that travellers then bring home — a population-level cost paid for an individual-level convenience.
