Äta utomlands med celiaki eller matallergi

Vilka regler ger EU dig

De fjorton största allergenerna — inklusive spannmål som innehåller gluten — måste deklareras i hela EU, i förpackad mat och i livsmedelstjänst. Reglerna är tillräckligt enhetliga så att en celiakiresenär som rör sig mellan medlemsländerna står inför samma märkningsram, vilket är en betydande och underapprecierad fördel.

Vad som varierar är efterlevnaden, hur livsmedelstjänsten avslöjar (muntligt, på en meny, i en mapp), och kulturell bekantskap med tillståndet. Vissa länder har hög offentlig medvetenhet om celiaki; andra behandlar det som en preferens.

Det praktiska systemet

  1. Få ett översättningskort på det lokala språket, som anger tillståndet medicinskt, namnger vad som måste undvikas, och nämner delade fritöser och ytor. Ett kort går till köket; en talad mening gör det inte.
  2. Lär dig läsa ingredienslistan, inte språket. Allergener betonas typografiskt i hela EU, så du kan hitta dem utan att läsa resten.
  3. Boka boende med kylskåp och vattenkokare. Det omvandlar en svår resa till en vanlig.
  4. Ta med säker mat för resedagar. Flygplatser, stationer och långa resor är där folk fastnar.
  5. Hitta den lokala celiaki- eller allergiföreningen. De flesta europeiska länder har en, flera publicerar listor över ställen.
  6. Ta med tillräckligt med medicin — inklusive adrenalinauto-injektorer där det är relevant — och bär ett receptbrev.

Försäkring och dokumentation

Kontrollera att reseförsäkringen täcker ditt tillstånd, och bär dokumentation av eventuell medicin i originalförpackning med ett receptbrev. Inom EU täcker det europeiska sjukförsäkringskortet nödvändig statligt tillhandahållen behandling, vilket inte är detsamma som reseförsäkring och ersätter det inte.

Ja, mer än att tala. Ett kort kan lämnas till köket, där besluten fattas.
Vilka europeiska länder är enklast att resa i med celiaki?
Medvetenheten varierar mer än regelverket. Nationella celiakiföreningar är den bästa nuvarande källan snarare än några generaliseringar.
Kan jag ta med min medicin över gränser?
I allmänhet ja, i originalförpackning med ett receptintyg. Kontrollera särskilt narkotikaklassade läkemedel.
Vad händer om jag får i mig gluten utomlands?
