Geleidelijk stijgen is de primaire preventie. Acetazolamide heeft goede ondersteuning uit onderzoeken voor profylaxe waar snelle stijging onvermijdelijk is. [1]

Daling is de behandeling voor ernstige ziekte. Geen medicijn vervangt dit.
